I appreciate your thoughtfulness, KQED, but why on earth would I want to listen pledge drive free?? Let’s get real: Cynthia Marcucci & co. are the lights of my life. However, is it bad that I am kind of already getting the pledge bug? Even though I’ve already joined and my membership gifts just now arrived (still waiting on that Newsweek sub…)? Though, like… if Wait Wait and/or PHC decide to actually have awesome gifts this round, I may not be able to help myself…

Feeling super validated as a person by the KQED survey I just took.

Look, I’m not saying that I cry a few heart-tears every day because I don’t get to hang out at KQED all the time, but… my other organs definitely have an Alice In Wonderland situation happening on the daily.

Just submitted my membership pledge to KQED!

This American Life USB flash drive, sweet KQED hoodie (& static cling sticker!) & Newsweek subscription, you are mine, all mine!

And, most importantly, I’m now a supporting member of my favorite public radio station.

Best. Day. EVER.

Aaaaah! Totally going to pledge during TAL today… if everything goes my way I’ll end up with a USB flash drive and a sweet KQED hoodie!

Now I just have to spend the next four hours deciding whether to just pledge online, or call in (the cooler option ‘cause you get to talk to a volunteer, but, like… major phone anxiety).

PLEDGE DILEMMA ALERTZ!

So, Wait Wait’s pledge gifts were a bust (no Carl Kassel pillow. Weak) but This American Life is on now and their gift is this USB flash drive, which is awesome. My dilemma is this: do I donate now and guarantee an awesome gift, or gamble on Prairie Home Companion having an even greater gift later tonight?

(There’s a rebroadcast of TAL later tonight but I don’t know if I can count on the flash drive being available again. I tweeted @KQED, hopefully they will respond. In the next half hour.)

Edit: OK. I decided to wait it out and see what PHC has to offer. The flash drive is available from the TAL store if I have a “OMG I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN IT” panic moment, and there’s a chance that PHC’s gift will be (a) awesome and (b) not available in their store.

It’s the most glorious time of the year, y’all!

Pledge time! I think I actually want to become a member of KQED this go ‘round. I’m a grown up, I listen to it all the time, and my love of pledge (and Cynthia Marcucci) rings kind of hollow if I don’t pony up.

But this brings us to the most important question: which weekend program will have the best gifts? Wait Wait, This American Life & Prairie Home Companion usually all have awesome gifts… but which will have the most awesome? And, more importantly, which will I be around to call in during?
