Happy 31, boo. Here’s a picture of you in Point Arena… still mad that I didn’t get to meet you (I know I was two). ~U R Forever Young 2 Me~ xoxo
This is my anchor tattoo. I mostly got it because of the book “It’s kind of a funny story” and the way the main character has what he calls “anchors”, which are the things in life he loves and enjoys or things that keep him going. I got mine to remind me of all the reasons to keep living, and everything that has helped me to survive. (theres-no-shame-in-drifting.tumblr.com)
Anchor tattoos are oftentimes super cliché and dumb but this one’s awful pretty.
PLEDGE DILEMMA ALERTZ!
So, Wait Wait’s pledge gifts were a bust (no Carl Kassel pillow. Weak) but This American Life is on now and their gift is this USB flash drive, which is awesome. My dilemma is this: do I donate now and guarantee an awesome gift, or gamble on Prairie Home Companion having an even greater gift later tonight?
(There’s a rebroadcast of TAL later tonight but I don’t know if I can count on the flash drive being available again. I tweeted @KQED, hopefully they will respond. In the next half hour.)
Edit: OK. I decided to wait it out and see what PHC has to offer. The flash drive is available from the TAL store if I have a “OMG I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN IT” panic moment, and there’s a chance that PHC’s gift will be (a) awesome and (b) not available in their store.
Another first today: visited the SoHo REI! I had to pick up a couple Nalgene accessories (yeah, I’m that guy) and ended up with this Utility Cord, as well. (a) because I, like Samwise Gamgee, know the importance of having a bit of rope, and (b) as a consolation prize because I didn’t buy any of the extremely tempting freeze dried camping meals.
Dream Team.

Actually bought stuff at the Union Square Greenmarket today, for the first time ever despite walking by it at least once a week for the last two and a half years.
For $20 I got:
- A bottle of tomato juice
- Fresh tomatoes & basil (gonna make some bomb pasta tomorrow)
- Heirloom garlic (see above)
- A wee head of cabbage (Crisp Tuna & Cabbage Salad, you’re gonna be in my belly)
- Loaf of multi-grain bread (to eat with my tuna & cabbage salad)
- Hunk of maple sugar candy because of happiness
Can’t wait to eat it all!
